It's interesting that Psyonix chose now to release drop rate information. The rates are more controlled than in Overwatch, but less stringent than in Counter-Strike or PUBG, likely due to the inability to sell Rocket League items on the Steam Community Market. It's safe to say that Rocket League's 1% chance of drawing a Black Market item certainly isn't the worst out there, compared to the rarest tiers of other games. It doesn't seem like the low chances and higher key costs have discouraged many players, though, since CS:GO's Community Market is one of the most active on Steam. Counter-Strike's rates are roughly similar to PUBG's and also have $2.50 keys. Reddit user hansjc translated a post on Counter-Strike's Chinese site that disclosed the odds, and broke the five rarity categories down as follows (in order of least to most rare): Blue: 79.92%, Purple: 15.98%, Pink: 3.2%, Red: 0.64%, Yellow: 0.26%. to try and keep prices high since they receive a percentage of Community Market sales for PUBG items, which are currently priced as high as $1,100. ( Drop rates source)ĬS:GO items can sell for thousands on the Steam Marketplace SteamĬounter-Strike: Global Offensive was also forced by the Chinese government to publish loot crate odds, and even recently blocked players in Belgium and the Netherlands from opening loot crates to avoid legal controversies regarding gambling. PUBG items, unlike Rocket League and Overwatch, can be sold on the Steam Community Marketplace, which would encourage PUBG Corp. The chance to receive the rarest items from the free-to-open Biker Crate are even worse- starting at 0.0064%. The odds, however, of receiving the rarest item in the Desperado Crate is a mere 0.16%, and the next three rarest items have drop chances of. ![]() Instead, each item in a crate has its own chance of being selected. ![]() PUBG loot isn't separated into categories of rarity. PUBG keys cost $2.50 each, compared to Rocket League's ~$1 each, and unlock one item from a crate. PUBG's crate system functions similarly to Rocket League's- where crates are earned for free through gameplay, some of which are free to open, and some are opened with purchased keys. That being said, Overwatch has no in-game trading, meaning Blizzard doesn't have to manage the "inflation" of items within the community. In addition to these more generous rates, Overwatch also rewards players currency (which can be used to buy certain items outright) for duplicate items, which Rocket League does not. ![]() Each loot box contains at least one rare item, and has an 18% chance for an epic item, and a 7.4% chance for a legendary item. Overwatch crates are earned through gameplay, are opened for free, and the items inside have three rarity categories: rare, epic, and legendary. Overwatchwas famously forced to reveal their loot crate rates after a change in Chinese legislation to combat gambling in video games.
